遊びに来た息子の友達の雅也は両親が離婚して母というものを知らずに育ったという。紗季はその身の上に同情したが、それ以上に特別な感情が沸いてくるのを感じていた。この子の淋しさは夫が単身赴任に出て以来、私が感じている淋しさと似ている。この子も私もぬくもりに飢えているんだ…。雅也と話して紗季は体が疼いていくのを感じた。後日、息子が留守のタイミングを見計らって雅也が訪ねてきた。雅也も同じ気持ちだった。
